In this article I am trying to explain the shortcut keys for Visual SourceSafe.
Each command has a key combination associated with it that enables you to execute a command with keystrokes. Typically, you press the CTRL or ALT key and simultaneously press the underlined letter from the appropriate menu command.
Key | Description |
ALT+ENTER | Show properties of a file or project. |
ALT+X | Closes Visual SourceSafe Explorer. |
CTRL+* | Globally expands all projects. |
CTRL+A | Adds files to the current project. |
CTRL+C | Copies text. |
CTRL+D | Sets the working folder for the current project. |
CTRL+ENTER | Views a file. |
CTRL+F | Shows differences for the selected file or project. |
CTRL+G | Gets the selected file or project. |
CTRL+H | Shows the history of the selected file or project. |
CTRL+I | Checks in the selected file(s). |
CTRL+INS | Copies selected text to the Clipboard. |
CTRL+K | Checks out the selected file(s). |
CTRL+L | Selects files.. |
CTRL+N | Undoes a checkout. |
CTRL+O | Checks out a file. |
CTRL+Q | Cancels a search display or status. Returns to a normal file display. |
CTRL+R | Creates a report. |
CTRL+S | Searches for a file checked out to a specific user. Use CTRL+Q to return to normal file display. |
CTRL+U | Checks in the selected file(s). |
CTRL+V | Pastes text from the Clipboard. |
CTRL+W | Performs a wildcard search. |
CTRL+X | Cuts text and places it on the Clipboard. |
CTRL+Z | Undoes editing in the dialog box. |
DELETE | Deletes the selected file or project. |
ENTER | Views a file. |
F1 | Gets online Help for a specific item. |
F5 | Refreshes the file list. |
INSERT | Creates a project in the project pane, or adds files in the file pane. |
SHIFT+CTRL+L | Selects all files. |
SHIFT+CTRL+S | Searches for all files currently checked out. Use CTRL+Q to return to normal file display. |
SHIFT+DELETE | Cuts selected text and copies it to the Clipboard. |
SHIFT+INSERT | Pastes text on Clipboard into a text box. |
